"It
was great race," Bray said. "I gave him a start off
the tree, although our car had a little more in it than his
and I almost caught him, but there just wasn't enough track.
Still, our car is running right at the top of the pack, we were
in sixth place in the points chase coming into this event, working
our way into equal fourth with Steven Reed, so, I'm very pleased
with the weekend," Bray said.
The Quarter
finals saw Bray paired against local favorite Aaron Deery in
the family dragster, another formidable opponent from the west.
Leaving the line only three-thousandths of a second apart, the
two Chargers barreled down the strip with Bray taking the line
by a scant .030 seconds - about 16 inches: 5.673/244.40 to Deery's
slower 5.703/244.40.
"It was definitely a great day of drag racing, despite
the semi-final loss. With only a single car driving duties,
there was a lot of sitting around, waiting, but it was good
for me because I could spend extra time with my loyal fans from
the west that called by our pit area.
"I can't say enough about my team, though. These guys give
their heart and soul to get that Armor All Funny Car down the
track. We ran the second-best E.T. of the meet, had great times,
and were definitely getting on top of our game the more times
we ran down the track. I am so proud of each of them,"
Bray said.
After a quick trip back to Brisbane to compete in the power
cruise street car shot out at Willowbank, Bray will fly back
to Perth and head to Motorplex again for Top Doorslammer duties,
November 30 / December 1, for the Golden State Titles.
