Bray advances to finals

On weather affected surface after battling tire shake for most of the week end Ben took out the runner up spot in round 4 of the ANDRA Top Alcohol Championship.

After qualifying the Armor All Firebird in 4th position Bray defeated fellow Queensland Steve Reed in Round 1 with 5.929/241.80 to Reeds 10.238/107.33

The Semi final was an all Queensland all funny car affair with Brett Stevens defeating Gary Phillips and Ben 5.861/239.10 defeating John Canulli 6.615/158.71 to advance, to the final.

The stage was then set for an all funny car Top Alcohol Final, Bray left the line hard but unfortunately by half track tire shack forced Bray to lift and was defeated 10.007/85.02 to 5.818/241.80.

Currently embroiled in a battle to be in the top five in the ANDRA championship race, Bray knows that every lap in his Armor All firebird funny car is critical to his Championship dreams.

I literaly had a head ache from the tire shack after qualifying but in the elimination it looked like we had got on top of the problem. Although we took a conservative approachin the final the old tire shack came back, I shifted into 2nd early but that didn't help, so it was back to the pits for some more nuraphin.

"The up side of this weekend is, we didn't lose our position in the Championship - because of our great quarter and semi final effort, we actually moved up a spot in the ANDRA Championship. Overall, it's a positive weekend for us," Bray said.

Unofficially, Bray holds third place in the ANDRA championships only 112 points behind series lead Brett Stevens. With the top 5 in the championship only separated by 152 points and 4 races left the Top Alcohol Championship, this series is way to close to call.

Ben and father Victor will take a slight detour from their ANDRA Championship tour to attend the Street machine Supernats back at the WSID located in Sydney, next weekend.
